Earlier this week I was visiting my father for dinner, and while he was getting ready to go out, I decided to check in on a plant that my mother was taking care of for me. It had been in my previous office, and since my living space doesn't have the light it requires, I asked her to tend to it until I moved to a new office space. I was pleased to see not only is it doing well, it's thriving, it's GROWING.
For me, it was a sign that I needed to see. I know in my life, like in so many others, there is often so much going on, and it can be hard to see the good, to remain upbeat and positive, and to see change even when its right in front of you. Seeing this succulent's growth helped me recenter and focus, it brought me back to what is already known. Every experience, positive or negative, leads to growth. Reflect on your experiences, how have you grown, how have you changed?
It's not only about the experience, but how we choose to view each experience, how we choose to feel about them, and what we choose we want to take away from the experience. Being able to look at each experience in a positive light may not be easy, in fact it may be down right challenging, but who doesn't like a good challenge. Growth is not only important, but inevitable, you quite literally grow through what you go through in life, like it or not. You only get to help determine if the experience and the growth is positive. I urge you to make your happiness and personal growth a priority in your own life. The more you are able to do this, the more you take care of yourself, the more you can in turn be there for the other people and things that are important in your life.
